Overview

There hadn't been anything like this kind of rain in living memory. The River Brede had burst its banks, and not a single house in the valley had escaped flooding. Even where Wexford lived, higher up in Kingsmarkham, the waters had nearly reached the mulberry tree in his once immaculate garden... The Subaqua Task Force could find no trace of Giles and Sophie Dade, let alone the woman who was keeping them company, Joanna Troy. But Mrs Dade was still convinced her children were dead. This was an investigation which would call into question many of Wexford's assumptions about the way people behaved, including his own family...

too slow

I am only 1/2 way through the first set of cd and if I had another book in the car I would send it back. Very Slow so far nothing has grabbed me. I mostly look forward to getting into the car to listen but not with this book. Perhaps I just am used to a faster paced American mystery and this isn't it....

A good audio read--complex characters, interesting plot. A little slow in the English Ruth Rendell way, but I looked forward to reading it every time I got in the car.

Babes in the Wood: An Inspector Wexford Mystery

I am really enjoying this book. Although I have not quite finished the second set of CDs, I would recommend it highly. The narrator is fantastic! He has a very easy voice to listen too and changes his voice for all the different charaters. The mystery is intriguing.
