Overview

In the final volume of Anne Rice's deliciously tantalizing erotic trilogy, Beauty's adventures on the dark side of sexuality make her the bound captive of an Eastern Sultan and a prisoner in the exotic confines of the harem. In Beauty's Release, Anne Rice makes the forbidden side of passion a doorway into the hidden regions of the psyche and the heart.

I prefer heterosexual erotica

I prefer male to female erotica and this was mostly homosexual/lesbian sex, though it was well written and very sensual.

Beauty's release

This book is an absolute waste of a selection. 95% of a disc space is occupied by descriptions of a violent homosexual rape. There is nothing beautiful about this "beauty".

Heartpounding Excitement

Beauty's Release, is the end to Anne Rices' wonderful trilogy. It provides a depth and variety of characters who many a reader may identify. This graffic and sometimes shocking work of erotica only opens the imagination further to another world. One not to try I beleive, just to imagine! A fantastic read, you would want to keep around just to peek back into that other world, at your liesure!

Delicious, and exciting

Fantastic Read. It is immediately captivating and continues as such, just like the previous 2 books. This is not a fluffy Cinderella story, it is in all terms erotica. The feint of hart and 'Romance' readers probably won't see value in this book, or this series as it is too open minded and "dirty". I found it quite tastey. It leads the reader on in heated expectation. Read this series to your partner for some fun nights.

More about degradation than erotica

Written by Anonymous on August 10th, 2005

This book is much less about erotica and more about degradation. The scenes that are erotic are short and contain an element of violence or mutilation in a disgusting way (such as the female circumcision). There are only rare elements of sensuality which are quickly overshadowed. I expected this book to contain more about sexual and sensual exploration but found it was about slavery, general degradation, violence, pain and misery. I don't know how many scenes about men being whipped I could stand to listen to.

Smut. I was expecting something similar to say Interview with a Vampire, but it's a long stretched out S&M "fantasy". Story?? I couldn't even listen to the whole thing. But hey if you're into kink, you may enjoy this.

Rice, Anne

Born Howard Allen O'Brien on October 4, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Named after her father, Anne changed her first name in 1947 on her first day of school. She studied at Texas Women's University (1959Ð60), San Francisco State College (1964 BA; 1971 MA), and at the University of California, Berkeley (1969Ð70). After a variety of jobs, including waitress, cook, and insurance claims examiner, she began her career as a writer of erotica and vampire novels.

Rice gained a vast cult readership for her supernatural novels. Her first, Interview with the Vampire, was published in 1976. The book was the first in her popular Vampire Chronicles series, which includes 1985's The Vampire Lestat and 1988's The Queen of the Damned. Interview with the Vampire was made into a film in 1996 starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. Rice was also known for her sadomasochistic erotica, including Beauty's Punishment (1984). Later novels include Servant of the Bones (1996) and Vittorio the Vampire (1999). She also writes mainstream fiction using the pen name of Anne Rampling.

Much to the chagrin of her fans, Rice renounced her vampire novels after her return to the Catholic faith in 1998. It was then that she published Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt, her first novel in a trilogy chronicling the life of Jesus. She has since left New Orleans to live in Southern California in an effort to escape her fame as a novelist and live a simpler life.

Rice was married to poet Stan Rice for 41 years until his death in 2002. Their daughter, Michele, was born in 1966 and died of leukemia in 1972 at the age of five. Their son, Christopher, was born in 1978 and is a novelist.
