Though I'm beginning to recognize a certain format to his books, I love how Rollins takes odd historical facts and weaves them into a fascinating action packed story. I like the reoccurring characters from SIGMA, whom Rollins manages to infuse with enough depth to make them real. This was just a really fun read (or listen). I'm a definite fan.
One of the best books I have enjoyed in a long time, spell binding and informative. Could not believe at end of book, how much was actually based on truth.
The Doomsday Key exceeds expectations as a great suspense read/listen. Combining the exploits of a secret US special operaitons team, as they try to stop modern biotechnology terrorism, with the uncovering of a thousand-year-old pagan/early Christian mystery is just good plain fun. Both the Sigma Force charactors and the evil villians have depth and individuality--features often missing in high-action thriller novels. In fact, the author has done such a fabulous job weaving together the action thriller and the historical mystery genres, it sometimes seemed like writer James Rollins is really Dan Brown and David Baoducci sharing one brain and a word processor to create this book.
What an exciting book! It was exciting from start to finish. Do listen to the "notes to reader" at the end. It's amazing how much of the book is based on things that are actually true. Wow!!
New York Times bestselling author James Rollins holds a doctorate in veterinary medicine and resides in the Sierra Nevada mountains. An avid spelunker and certified scuba enthusiast, he can often be found underground or underwater.
