and Vince Jr. still has some work to do. If you're a Vince Sr. superfan you may get nothing out of this book. Being a big football fan, but a tad to young to have lived the Lombardi years, I got a few tidbits about the man and his life. If you don't at least know a little about Lombardi you'll be bored to tears.
Loved it. Only wished I listened to it at home instead of on the road so I could takes notes. Essential for any leader or leader-to-be who is also a football fan. I wasn't alive when he coached and all you'll hear today about him is the "Winning is the only thing" quote and how he was a mean SOB. Quite the contrary, I was surprised how much I liked him and he truely was a great MAN, not just a leader. Lombardi was a hero, and his leadership ability is a great example to learn from.
This audiobook was painful. I liked the concept, but it was virtually impossible to tolerate the droning voice of the narrator, the seemingly ongoing and unrelated numberical "lists" and if the narrator said "the leader must" on more time I was going to die. Don't bother.
Excellent book for the novice in leadership. Much of what is talked about has already been heard by the public through press and media...especially anyone who follows football. I enjoyed listening, but found my mind "straying" off at times due to some repetitiveness. Don't get me wrong! It's a great book.....it's just stuff that I've heard many times before, and am practicing now in my life. ON A GOOD NOTE, I took away several very essential ideas that will help me to prosper in my adult career.
